Parent Involvement & Volunteering
- How can I help?
There are so many ways you can help! And we will tell you all about them at our Theatre Parents meeting on 10/2 at 7pm time at Wilder.
- What is required of me, as a parent?
As a parent with a child participating in the show, you are required to volunteer to support the production. There is a mandatory parent meeting on 10/1 at 7pm at Wilder, where we will discuss the different roles for volunteers, and you can pick what works best with your schedule and skills.
- There are no refunds for before and after school classes. The only exception is if a program does not enroll the minimum number of students, a full refund will be given. Refunds will not be offered for classes within a session that must be canceled due to LWSD closure (weather, etc.), building issues or lack of a chaperone. A teacher or vendor may offer a makeup class if a class is cancelled due to illness or a schedule conflict, however, a makeup class is not guaranteed.
- We don't want anyone missing out on enrichment classes. Wilder PTSA offers scholarships based on financial need. If you need a scholarship, please email Mr. Goldberg, Wilder Principal, for help at [email protected]

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I sign my child up?
Pre-registration for cast will occur on Monday, 9/16 thru sign-up genius. If your child is one of the first 50 to register, they will be part of the production. If more than 50 students have pre-registered, they will be placed on a wait-list. On Monday 9/23, enrollment will be available to finalize the registration for the first 50 students who pre-registered. At that time, we will also have the final costs for the program, which depends on the number of students participating.
For crew slots (5 total), registration will be available on Monday 9/23.
2. What is your refund policy?
There are no refunds for before and afterschool enrichment activities. It is very important that you and your child are able to commit to the schedule for this program, and that you have reviewed the mandatory dates before you register.
1. How many roles are in the play?
There are up to 50 roles available in the play, and a minimum of 20. Some roles may be split across several cast members if enrollment is high (ex. several children may play Alice).
2. Are there auditions for the parts? How does my child prepare?
Auditions are on 10/7 and 10/8. Your child will come prepared to sing a song, or part of a song, and perform dialogue from a play or musical. More details will be provided at the parents meeting on 10/2 at 7pm so you can help your child prepare!
3. Can I attend the auditions, as a parent?
You can wait at the school, but cannot be in the room where the auditions are occurring.
4. Who decides the roles in the play?
The directors and staff at Studio East will decide the cast based on the auditions. 5th graders will be given some priority in lead roles, as younger kids have opportunities in future years to be cast as leads.
5. When will the roles be announced?
Roles will be announced later in the back-half of the week of 10/7, and you will be informed through email. Due to the complexity of assigning roles, casting parts are final once assigned.
6. Where are rehearsals?
Rehearsals will be in the Wilder gym & music room
7. We have scheduling conflicts and may not make some rehearsals. Can my child still participate?
We will solicit feedback from parents on their scheduling conflicts, and will do our best to schedule around conflicts but there are no guarantees. Schedule conflicts will also be taken into consideration during casting decisions. Please also note the mandatory dates that your child needs to be available in order to participate in the program (see above mandatory dates).
8. Does my child have to attend all rehearsals?
Your child’s rehearsal schedule will depend on the role(s) assigned, and will need to attend rehearsal days for their role, but this may not be every day. Roles with larger parts will have more rehearsals while roles with fewer speaking parts will attend fewer rehearsals. The rehearsal schedule will be available asap after the roles are announced.
9. My child was home sick from school today but is feeling better. Is it okay to attend rehearsal?
No. Your child needs to attend school that day to be able to attend auditions, rehearsals, performances, and the post-production party.
10. My child is not scheduled for rehearsal but still wants to go to watch. Is that possible?
No. Due to limited space and volunteers, we ask that your child only attend rehearsals on days when they are scheduled.
11. My child only has rehearsal for part of the 2-hour rehearsal block. Is it possible to stay the entire 2 hours?
Yes, if your child is scheduled for part of a rehearsal, they can attend the full two hours if they want to.
12. What does the tech crew do?
The tech crew are behind the scenes helping to make sure the production goes smoothly. The week leading up to tech week, the crew will work hard to finalize all the details needed in this production (ex. finalize props and backdrops, learn how to control sound, lighting and curtains). During the tech week and performances, the crew will support sound and lighting, and move the backdrop & props onto and off the stage. They will join the cast at the end of each show for the curtain call. It’s a wonderful way to see how a production comes to life first-hand, and to learn different aspects of putting on a show!
1. Where and when is the performance?
There will be 2 performance shows at 6pm on 11/15 and 11/16. The show will be at the Wilder gym.
2. My child is in the cast/crew. Do I get tickets for free to the show?
As a parent of a child in the show, you have early access to buy tickets to the show before they go on sale to the general public!
3. When will tickets go on sale?
Tickets will go on sale around early November. More info to come.
4. Are tickets open to the public?
Yes, tickets will be open to the public
