Art and Culture Night

International night

Arts and Culture Night

Join us for Wilder Family Arts and Culture Night November, 16, 2023

  • Doors open at 6pm

For many years, Wilder has celebrated the diversity of our community through an annual event called International Night.  This event has been a source of great pride for our school as it brings together so many families for all the same reason - sharing our beautiful traditions and individual cultures. We have changed the name in the spirit of recognizing that there are so many cultures represented in our school that extend beyond the boundaries of the countries we originated from.

This will be a wonderful evening for our children to learn about places around the world that they may or may not have traveled to, to try foods that are different from what they eat at home, and learn games and traditions of their friends and fellow students.  It is a fantastic opportunity for families to host a table to share their traditions, important holidays, and celebratory foods and treats from their family and culture. These can be shared through Food, Games, Clothing, Informational Posters, Music, Display of Instruments, Art or Tapestries.  Have another great idea you aren't sure about? Ask us!  So many cultures are celebrated through art, traditional clothing, music and performing, but you may have some other form that you would like to share.  This event was founded in the hope of sharing these experiences to help facilitate understanding and celebration among our community.

We still have space for those interested in hosting a table, so please submit your forms or email our event chairs by November 7th.

What you do with your table is entirely up to you and your group/family.  Here are a few ideas:

  • Fill your table with items from your country/culture
  • Fill a poster board with pictures of your country/culture
  • Prepare an activity or handout (example: India table did Henna tattoos, Cuba had games to play, country flag to color)
  • Play music
  • Serve traditional food.  The food is fantastic and the most popular attraction!

We are still in need of volunteers to make this night successful.  If you have questions or would like to help out, please email the event Chairs (Scott Livengood and Ricardo Rizo-Ruiz) at [email protected].
