Math Challenge 2026-2027

Throughout the school year, we’ll release 15 exciting Math Challenge sets—about one every other week.

Each challenge includes 10–18 creative math problems, ranging from fun warm-ups to tricky brain teasers. Whether you’re beginning your math journey or already a number ninja, there’s a challenge waiting for you!

Why Take the Challenge?

Math isn’t just about numbers—it’s about thinking, exploring, and discovering!

The Math Challenge is a fun way to:

· Stretch your problem-solving skills

· Think creatively and look at problems in new ways

· Build confidence with challenging math

· Go beyond the classroom and have fun with math

· Earn recognition and exciting prizes along the way!

Good to Know

· FREE for all students

· No registration required

· Open to Kindergarten through Grade 5

· 15 challenges throughout the school year

· New challenges are released approximately every other week

How to Participate

1. GET THE CHALLENGE Challenges will be sent home in students’ Take-Home Folders and posted online at: https://www.mathinaction.org/laura-ingalls-wilder-elementary.html

2. SOLVE IT! Work through the problems and complete at least the required number for your grade level. Feeling adventurous? Try them all!

3. SUBMIT YOUR SOLUTIONS Choose whichever option is easiest:

· Drop off a printed copy at the school office by the due date · Take a photo of your work and email it to math@wilderptsa.net

Recognition & Prizes

Your hard work deserves to be celebrated!

Every student who submits a challenge on time will receive a shout-out on the Cafeteria Math Board, in the PTSA Newsletter, and during morning announcements.

One student from each grade will be randomly selected for every challenge.

Complete 10 challenges → Earn a certificate + prize

Complete all 15 challenges → Earn a Gold Medal + certificate + prize!
