Volunteering

Recognize a Volunteer for the 2018/2019 Awards!

Golden Acorn Award

This is a national PTA program and the highest award the PTSA gives to our volunteers. This award honors individuals; either parent, teacher, or staff who have consistently demonstrated outstanding service to all children in the Wilder community. This is a person who has made a commitment to helping children and youth in many areas of the community, over an above the responsibilities of an office and a job. Nominees for this award include volunteers that meet the mission of the PTSA: to promote the health, welfare, safety and education of all children and youth in the home, school and community.

Silver Wolf Award

This award is unique to our school community. It was established to recognize those individuals, parent, teacher, or staff who have demonstrated excellence in their continued and dedicated service to all students at Wilder Elementary. An individual receiving this award should be a positive role model and should go above and beyond the call of duty to encourage the success of our students and to make Wilder a better place for all. This award is not given annually, only when a deserving individual is nominated.

Volunteering at Wilder

There are many ways to volunteer! We'd be happy to talk with you to find out your interests and help you determine the best fit. Some take just a couple hours of your time, others take a longer commitment. There is something for everyone at Wilder.

New Volunteer Background Applications are mandatory for all volunteers. Forms are available in the Wilder office.

How do I get involved in the PTSA?

Being a part of the Wilder PTSA is a great opportunity to meet other parents and to learn about all of the amazing events and activities at Wilder as well as throughout the entire Lake Washington school district.

If you are interested in learning more about the PTSA and how you can get involved, please reach out to any of our board members or attend any of our meetings. We are always interested in hearing new ideas and new opinions and would love the opportunity to welcome you aboard! There are many open chair positions as well as Executive Board positions each year, please take the plunge and join in on the fun!

VP Positions - executive board members

If you are interested in jumping in with both feet, become one of our VPs! As a VP you are an elected, voting member of the PTSA executive board with planning meetings held three times throughout the year. As a VP you will be actively planning the events and activities that our students experience!

Chair Positions - board of directors members

As a chair, you are automatically part of our PTSA Board of Directors and may attend any and all of our PTSA Board of Director's meetings held monthly. This allows you to not only learn first hand knowledge of what is going on at Wilder, but to also have a say and to actively be a part of the PTSA process!

There are a few board positions that we urgently need to fill for the 2018-2019 school year:

  • Open House: 2 co-chairs
  • Carnival: 1 co-chair
  • Stem Night: 1 co-chair
  • International Night: 1 co-chair
  • Student Council Liason: 1 chair
  • Assistant Treasurer: 1 chair
  • Yearbook: 2 co-chairs
  • Reflections: 1 chair
  • Grants: 1 chair

We want you to feel welcome and be involved - please join us at any of our meetings to learn more. We look forward to meeting you!
