Pantry Packs Gift Card Drive

There are some families at Wilder that receive Pantry Packs during the school days. Each weekend these students take home a bag of food that is child-friendly, non-perishable, and easy to eat. We are running a gift card drive to help our students in need over the summer. We are looking for donations of $50 gift cards from Safeway, Fred Meyer, or QFC. It would be helpful if you can please write the value on each gift card.

Donated gift cards can be delivered to Wilder on Wednesday, June 3rd. This is the same day we’ll be wrapping up many things at the school. There will be a Gift Card drop-off station available there. Thank you for your contributions! If you have any questions, please email Mr. Minaglia at aminaglia@lwsd.org.

Important Information for 5th Graders

The end of the school year is fast approaching and we are working to have some fun activities planned for the 5th Graders to celebrate their time at Wilder.

There will be a short photo slideshow during the 5th Grade Celebration. We’re looking for pictures and short videos taken at Wilder or on Wilder field trips between Kindergarten and 5th Grade. Please send any photos / videos that you would like included in the slideshow to Kelli Isaacs at wilder5thgrade2020@gmail.com by Friday, May 15th. We want to include everybody so please consider sending in at least one or two photos. We’ll do our best to include as many as possible. If you do not want your child’s photo included in the slide show, please email Kelli Isaacs at wilder5thgrade2020@gmail.com.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact any of us. We’ll keep 5th grade families updated for more year-end activities.

Sincerely,
The 5th Grade Planning Committee

Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation Week is a week-long national celebration in recognition of teachers and school staff and the contributions they make to education. It is held in the first full week of May every year and provides an opportunity for students and their parents to show their appreciation for the hard work teachers do and the long hours many of them put in.

Staff appreciation week is May 4 – 8, so let’s show our staff how much we appreciate them (especially as they adjust to the current situation). Please ask your student(s) to send staff members a note or picture during this week to show their appreciation. Thank you for celebrating with us!

Last Call to Buy Yearbooks

LAST CALL! Well this has been an unprecedented year for Wilder! Your yearbook chairs are still dedicated to putting out a great yearbook with all the highlights and memories from the beginning part of the year and with your help the last couple months as well. So first, purchase your yearbook if you have not already. It is very easy to do. Go on-line to https://commpe.pictavo.com and follow prompts to order. The price for the yearbook this year is $21.00 each or $25.00 if you want it personalized for your child’s picture on the front cover.

Help us make the yearbook complete. Send pictures of what your kids have been doing homeschooling so we can include them in the yearbook! You can also post pictures of what you did on “spring break” this year or post pictures from virtual spirit week!

You can post them to the Homeschool Google Drive or you can send them in by email to wilderhomeschool2020@gmail.com. Pictures need to be in by April 24th! If you have any questions or concerns please contact wendyhofeling@yahoo.com or shannonjacobs81@gmail.com and we can help you out!

Annual Volunteer and Staff Recognition

We are very fortunate at Wilder to have so many amazing volunteers and staff. Each year, the Wilder Community recognizes those who have consistently gone above and beyond in their service and willingness to lend a hand.

We need your help to nominate these exemplary volunteers and staff. If there is someone in particular who comes to mind please email Courtney Rogers at courtneyr@wilderptsa.net. Please include in your email who you are nominating and a short description of why you are nominating them. A committee will be reviewing the nominees shortly and will recognize the winners in the coming months.

Volunteer With the Wilder PTSA Board

Are you over homeschooling and need some social interaction? Join the Wilder PTSA Board! Now is your chance to self-nominate or nominate someone you know for our open volunteer positions. We cannot run all the fun events, enrichment programs and communications without you! We really hope we get to do these again soon!

There are positions that are mostly done from home or hands on positions that take place at the school. We need people of all skill levels and willingness. Show your students what it means to be part of a community and join the board!

Please click the link to the open positions and email fridat@wilderptsa.net or bhavyas@wilderptsa.net with any questions or nominations.

Wilder Donates Protective Equipment to Evergreen Medical Center – 300 N95 Masks Among Provisions Provided

ImageWilder staff and PTSA collaborated this week to donate significant stores of personal protective equipment (PPE) to EvergreenHealth Medical Center of Kirkland. Among the items donated were 300 N95 masks, which are critical in protection against the COVID-19 virus.

The Wilder PTSA Emergency Preparedness Committee continuously manages an inventory of supplies to help the school respond to and recover from any type of hazard or emergency. Annual PTSA funds are allocated toward this inventory.

Given the dire shortages facing the global healthcare system, it was an easy decision to deliver critical supplies that were on-hand to local healthcare providers battling this outbreak on the front lines.

Here’s a complete list of the items that were donated:

  • 300 N95 masks
  • 4 gallons of hand sanitizer
  • 950 nitrile medical gloves
  • 150 face masks with protective eye shield
  • 1000 bio waste bags
  • 150 isolation gowns
  • 250 medical shoe covers

Project Wild About Wilder

We want to share a project that a few members of our PTSA have put together to show our Wilder teachers and staff how much we appreciate them. Despite no longer being allowed at the school, they are still hard at work (from home) to help prepare materials for students.

It is called, “Project Wild about Wilder.” Help us send cards and words of encouragement to all our Wilder teachers, administrators, specialists, and support staff! Ask your child(ren) to make a card or sign and then take a photo with it. Please upload that photo to this Google Drive. If you have any difficulty with the drive, you can also email the photo. Someone will then upload it to the share drive for you.

This is an ongoing project, so there is no specific time constraint. We’d love everyone’s help to make it a smashing success!
