Space

The Art Element of SPACE is the artist’s use of area on the picture page.  There are two types of space: positive and negative.  Positive space is the space in a piece of art occupied by the primary objects.  The negative space is the area around the main object in the picture.  Much of the artist Georgia O’Keefe’s work is an excellent example of the use of space.  And, of course, our Wilder artists demonstrate this skill very well, too!
